Fire Service traditions

The fire service is a special place. For those of us who serve, the work is a calling, the people are a family. 

Many of us with the greatest passion for the fire service and its traditions seek to contribute in other ways. One such way is by service to an Honor Guard. The Pipes and Drums bands of the fire service are a separate entity, yet are an extension of the Honor Guard. The pipe band tradition was brought to the United States by our firefighting ancestors, and has a remained a strong part of our tradition since. The unmistakable sound created by a set of bagpipes has been forever linked to times of great emotion.  Anyone who has heard a live performance, can attest to the power they command.  For hundreds of years, these traditions for been coveted.  The inspiring yet haunting sounds they create have filled the halls and fields of battle and mourning alike.   

Today, it is our turn to carry on these traditions of old.  It is our turn to inspire and embolden those seeking the call to service.  To fill the hearts of those mourning and celebrating tantamount. Today is our day.  Is it yours?
